CCA’s Picture That (Petey) and Chamberlain Ledoyen going to Pony Finals

petieChamberlain Ledoyen and Petey qualified for Pony Finals last month.  Ledoyen won the USEF pony medal which isn’t an easy task.  Pony Medal riders qualify by accumulating 30 points in US Pony Medal classes from July 2, 2013 through July 1, 2014. Six competitors must complete the course for Pony Medal classes to count for points (five in Zones 8, 11 and 12).  Currently holding 45 points, Chamberlain placed 2nd at the  TR&HC CHARITY HORSE SHOW (6/5/2014 – 6/8/2014) and 1st out of 14 riders at the TRYON SUMMER CLASSIC (5/29/2014 – 6/1/2014) in Tryon.  Be sure to wish her luck as she heads out to the Lexington Kentucky Horse Park for pony finals in August of this year.

The EAP program is an acronym for the Emerging Athletes Program.  Every year hundreds of hopefuls apply to learn and further their equestrian education in the hunter/jumper community with proven professionals in the industry. During the application process, the riders demonstrate their experience in the horse industry as well as showing, employment, outside interests and scholastic achievements.  Our very own Anna Reising has applied for and completed the program with 5 time Olympian Anne Kurzinski as her clinician.  This experience has shown to payoff  for Anna as she has been champion in Greensboro NC  winning all 3 classes and champion in Tryon in the High Child /Adult Division on her horse Celtic Fiddler (Norm).  Way to go Anna!  We are proud to have you on our CCA Team.

Pony Pals  Meets July 20th

The next event is on Sunday, July 20, from 3:00-4:30pm. Come in your bathing suits (and boots!) as we plan to bathe a few lucky horses and get a little wet ourselves! Please bring $2.
Pony Pals must have boots on to spend time with the horses and bring a water bottle if you need it.

Please RSVP by Friday, July 18, to Shannon Habenicht at [email protected].
*Attendees can be Kindergarten to 5th grade and current CCA students. Please be on time for drop off/pick up.

This group meet’s one Sunday a month for 1.5-2 hours as a way to give our young riders more time around horses, but also give them an opportunity to build great barn buddy friendships, which goes ‘hoof and hoof’ with riding horses!

Pony Pals does not include horse back riding, but some activities include lungeing demos, learning how to braid horses for shows, relay races, riding demos, grooming time, treasure hunts around the barn, and more. As the group continues to grow and bond, there are lots of exciting things ahead. There is no monthly fee to attend, though sometimes $2 may be required for snack. Riders are asked to wear boots and come prepared to have a fun time! There are two adult Pony Pal coordinators at every event – Shannon Habenicht (her daughter, Finley, rides at CCA) and Kelli Lyons (her daughter, Grace, also rides at CCA).
